The Surprise Corner Lookout features views of the iconic Fairmont Banff Springs hotel. The current Chateau-style building is almost 100 years old and is a national historic site. From this viewpoint, the mountains loom behind it and the turquoise coloured Bow River rushes in front.

There is parking for only nine vehicles at the viewpoint parking area. An alternative way to visit is to walk the Bow River Trail - it takes around 20 minutes from the bridge on Banff Avenue.

A Parks Canada parks pass is required to explore Banff National Park ($22/day for a vehicle of up to 7 people).
