Lake Minnewanka is a 21km long lake located very close to Banff townsite. The jewel-toned lake is backdropped by the dramatic Mount Inglismaldie (2964m). As well as being one of the longest lakes in the Canadian Rockies, Lake Minnewanka is the deepest (142m).

Once at Lake Minnewanka, walk the shoreline of the lake and take in the views. A good destination is the 3km return trip to the bridge over Stewart Canyon. The path is mostly flat, with just a few small ups and downs.

Alternatively, consider renting a canoe ($87/hour). Pursuit operates one hour boat tours of the lake, featuring the ecology and history of the area.

A Parks Canada parks pass is required to explore Banff National Park.
