If you want to see more of Kamloops than the highway, consider a stay at the Delta Hotel.

The Delta is well placed in the downtown area, with a great selection of local restaurants within walking distance. There is an on-site hotel and bar as well, if you don't feel like going far.

Expect friendly service, comfortable and recently renovated rooms. The only downside is that I've heard that the soundproofing isn't particularly good.
