Whistler is one of North America's largest ski resorts. But this mountain paradise is a wonderful summer destination as well.

This is particularly true if you love to hike as the winter lift system can be utilised for easy access into the alpine (almost zero uphill climbs necessary!)

Whistler has a lovely walkable village area, with plenty of restaurants and shops. This pedestrianised area does have a bit of a European feel, with outdoor patios along the street. Some of the shops are a little tourist trap-ish and prices are on the high side.

Be sure to look for the large Olympic Rings, a lasting symbol of when Whistler hosted the winter games in 2010.
