Did you know that Bern (in German) means Bear? The city of Bern has been home to bears since 1513,Today, the Bern Bear Pits houses these beloved mustachioed animals in a sprawling 6,000 sq. park. This place is filled with rolling hills, natural inclines and caves for the bears hideaway in, as well as 'Bear Bath' - a part of the Aare River they can wallow in.

Attractions for visitors include walking tours of the old bear pit and new park, plus guided tours that will provide fascinating insights into the history of the spot. Kids and adults alike are sure to be captivated by these remarkable creatures.
