Situated in the capital city of Bern, the Swiss Parliament House serves as the seat of one of the world's earliest modern democracies. It was designed by architect Hans Wilhelm Auer and was first established in 1902.

And guess what? You can score free guided tours when the Parliament folks aren't busy in session. During the tour, you will get to see focal points of the building like the fancy domed hall, the Council of States and National Council chambers, and the swanky 'Wandelhalle' lobby. Plus, you'll learn more about the the history of the Federal Palace and how Parliament gets things done. It's a fascinating peek behind the scenes of Swiss politics!

Outside the building, there's a bunch of cool stuff to check out. You can kick back on the terrace, soak in the views of the Marzili public baths, the Aare River, and the iconic Gurten mountain. And keep your eyes peeled for Bundesplatz square, where they've got a cool fountain in the summer and a neat light show and ice rink in the winter. Plus, there's always something happening, from events to classic Bernese markets like the Zibelemärit (onion market) and Christmas markets.
