When you visit Ticino, you have to experience dining in a grotto i.e. a simple tavern in quiet hideaway places, and Grotto Broggini is one of the must go place! It is just 10minutes walk from Ascona. Booking in advance recommended. In summer the garden is a wonderful place to eat and there is a small children’s park at one end. While the service can be a bit slow- the ambience and food make up 10 fold for this. We stayed a couple of hours in the outdoor dining area and savoured each moment- it was magical.

1. Spit roasted chicken(THE peciality of the house)

2. Risotto

3. Osso buco(specialty of Lombard cuisine, cross-cut veal shanks braised with vegetables, white wine, and broth

4. Zabaglione (Italian dessert, a MUST).
