My favourite hike in the Kimberley has to be El Questro Gorge. The walk starts off fairly easy, through a lush narrow gorge with big rock walls that will lead you to a half way swimming hole.

The next part is where the fun really begins, walk through the water and scramble over boulders to reach the upper pool and a beautiful waterfall. The full hike is about 7.2km return and can take up to 5 hours so make sure you wear decent water shoes. You’ll also need a 4WD just to get there as there is a pretty deep water crossing before the trailhead.

This area requires a Wilderness Park Visitor Permit. Daily permits cost around $29 per adult and $15 per child, with 7 day options often available.
