The Obersee, located near the Austrian border in Bavaria, Germany, is a natural lake that lies within the Berchtesgaden National Park. It is situated southeast of the larger Königssee and is separated from it by a moraine. While there are no villages nearby, visitors can explore the area surrounding the lake including the small Fischunkelalm, which is only open during summer. With a maximum length of 1.32 km (0.82 Miles) and maximum width of 0.42 km (0.26 Miles), Obersee is relatively small and is also renowned for its clear mountain waters. It boasts an average depth of 29.6 m (97 Feet) and a maximum depth of 51 m (167 ft). The pristine lake provides many recreational activities such as swimming, fishing, boating, and hiking, and offers superb views of the surrounding landscape and the Watzmann Mountain beyond.
