Literally translating to "the Four Brothers", this taverna is probably going to become your go-to food option in Gavdos, especially if you decide to stay near the sandy beach of Sarakiniko, where the taverna is.
When I was in Gavdos, I got so used to eating there to the point that I stayed on the table for hours on end. The taverna would close for a few hours and I would still be sitting on my table, doing work or just enjoying the silence. Until it reopened again after a couple of hours. I sat there for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The food is cooked by the family (mother, father and the four brothers). The menu consists of entirely homemade, cooked food, giving emphasis to local products and recipes, such as vegetables, goat, lamb, eggs, wild greens, "staka" butter and -of course- fresh fish. One funny detail is that you will probably confuse the brothers and won't be able to tell who is who since they look alike very much.
The reasons I recommend this taverna are primarily for the quality of the food, as you can taste the "home" and the coziness in every dish. It's as if you were invited at a home to eat. The second reason I recommend this is because it's incredibly laid-back. Feel free to just lie on the table and take a nap, or better yet use the hammocks nearby. Everything about it just feels so familiar and comforting.
