The Millpu Pools are a jaw-dropping series of turquoise cascades and natural pools tucked in a remote canyon about 3–4 hours from Ayacucho. Dozens of pools step down through the valley, their surreal blue-green color caused by minerals in the water.

Visiting Millpu feels like stumbling into a secret paradise. The hike to the pools is moderate but rewarding, and you’ll be surrounded by dramatic canyon walls and highland landscapes. Swimming is no longer allowed (to preserve the fragile ecosystem), but simply walking along the pools and taking in the views is unforgettable.
