What you’ll do

Edinburgh is of course Scotland’s capital, but for me it’s also the only city I’ve ever lived in! I spent about 4 years here while I was at university, right in that young-adult stage where a place really leaves its mark. And Edinburgh absolutely does. It’s fun, full of energy, and packed with wonder, art, culture, and joy.

One of the things I love most is how walkable it is. You can literally watch the city’s history shift around you as you move from the Medieval Old Town’s cobbled closes to the elegant Georgian New Town. It’s also a proper “Scottish” city — built around a dormant volcano, dotted with wee hills you can climb right in the centre, and layered with centuries of stories.

Edinburgh is also brilliant for food, coffee, independent shops, vintage finds, and those cosy-but-quirky bars and pubs I naturally gravitate to.

There’s a lot to do, and it can easily feel overwhelming, so I’ve pulled together an itinerary based on the places and moments I’ve personally loved over the years. It’s packed, but take it at your own pace. Edinburgh is such a gorgeous city — I hope you experience the same spark it always gives me.
