Note: This is tagged as both “dog-friendly” and “no pets allowed” because dogs can’t enter the market, BUT the RSPCA runs a Puppy Parking service on the Salamanca Lawns. Volunteers look after your dog for a donation while you’re in the market, more info here.

Salamanca Market is a big, lively outdoor market with handmade crafts, local produce, food trucks, buskers, and everything in between. It runs every Saturday from 8:30 AM to 3 PM.

You don’t need more than a couple of hours here unless you’re shopping hard. We’d recommend going early to beat the crowds, and grabbing brekky or a coffee while you wander.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • 200+ stalls with everything from woodwork to wine

  • Lots of hot food and fresh produce, including Tassie favourites like scallop pies and cheese

  • Live music and street performers throughout the day

  • Gets busy by mid-morning, especially in summer

  • Mostly outdoors, bring sun protection or a rain jacket depending on the forecast

TO ACCESS

  • Free to enter

  • Every Saturday, 8:30 AM to 3 PM

  • Located on Salamanca Place in Hobart

  • Easy walk from most central Hobart stays

  • Paid parking nearby or take the free Hobart Hopper bus if staying further out
