Diamond Island
Small island off Bicheno you can walk to at low tide

Area

This was one of our favourite spots in Tassie.

It’s in Bicheno, and you can literally walk there! It’s a 10-15 minute walk from Redbill Beach, but only at low tide.

There are some cool rock pools to check out once you’re over there, and it’s a great little outing if you’ve got kids or just want something low-key and different.

It’s free and really fun, but you need to time it well. Otherwise the tide comes back in and you’ll be swimming your way out (which nearly happened to us, not recommended).

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Walk across the sandbar at low tide

  • Great little adventure right in town

  • Rock pools to explore on the island

  • Bring water shoes

TO ACCESS

  • Free to access

  • Located in Bicheno, right off the main beach

  • Check tide charts, only walkable at low tide

  • No facilities, grab what you need in town before heading over
