Free bush campsite along the Three Capes Track

Campsite

Bare Knoll is the only free campsite along the Three Capes Track, and where most people stay if they’re doing the Cape Pillar section over multiple days.

It’s about 9 km (3-4 hours) from Fortescue Bay and sits tucked in the forest just before the Cape Pillar turnoff.

The site has raised tent platforms, drop toilets, and a rainwater tank. It’s free and it’s first-come, first-served.

We didn’t have an issue finding a spot (we went in late summer, early autumn). But if you’re going in peak season, definitely try to get there early.

Facilities are very basic, but it’s quiet, peaceful, and perfectly placed to split up the big walking days!

Note: Some outdated guides mention the Wughalee Falls as another camping spot, but it closed a couple of years ago due to safety issues.
