St Helens is your last stop for fueling up, grabbing groceries, and getting reception before going to the Bay of Fires.

Everything will be closed after 7pm except a couple of petrol stations, though! So either get there early or spend the night so you can stock up before continuing up the coast.

HOW LONG TO STAY?
1 night if you need to restock or reset. Otherwise, stock up on your way to the Bay of Fires.

GETTING THERE & MOVING AROUND

  • From Hobart: ~3.5-hour drive via Bicheno

  • From Devonport (ferry terminal): ~3.5-hour drive via Derby

  • Getting around: You’ll need your own vehicle, public transport is limited

TRAVELLING WITH DOGS
St Helens has dog-friendly areas and off-leash zones. Check this map from the council for more info

ACCOMMODATION
If you need to stay there overnight, here are some recommendations:

  • BIG4 St Helens. Best all-rounder, has cabins, campsites, hot showers, power, and dump point. Plus it’s pet-friendly!

  • Bayside Hotel. Best hotel with great location, within walking distance to supermarkets, pubs, and shops. Basic but central, walking distance to pub and shops.
