The Tessellated Pavement is a natural rock platform made up of flat, rectangular stone tiles that look man-made! It’s weird in a cool way.

It’s right next to the beach at Eaglehawk Neck and easy to visit without needing to hike.

It’s a quick stop, but definitely time your visit at low tide, when more of the patterned rock is visible and dry enough to walk on.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Very slippery, take care walking across

  • Small beach and picnic area next to the viewpoint

  • Can be busy in peak season with tour buses stopping

TO ACCESS

  • Approx 1 hour’s drive from Hobart

  • Park pass required, it’s in Tasman NP

  • Dog-friendly (on lead)
