We LOVE everything about Cloudy Bay.

It feels like the edge of the world, wide open, windy, and raw in the best way. It’s down the southern end of Bruny and takes a bit of effort to get to, but that’s part of why it’s special.

There are many good camps around there, so we recommend spending a few days there if you can. It’s paradise!

Plus it’s an excellent spot to see the aurora. There’s great surfing too if you’re keen.

It’s 4WD only, though. The last section is unsealed and we don’t think a normal vehicle could make it there.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Wild, remote beach

  • Several campsites around

  • Wallabies often hang around the dunes

  • Strong winds are common, plan accordingly

TO ACCESS

  • 4WD only

  • Park pass needed (it’s in South Bruny NP)

  • Open all day

  • Bring all food, water, and supplies (no facilities)
