What I enjoy most about Baia Mare is its laid-back atmosphere. The beautifully restored Old Town is perfect for wandering on foot, with colorful buildings, lively squares, and historic landmarks around every corner. Whether you're enjoying a specialty coffee, discovering local restaurants, or simply taking a walk through the city center, Baia Mare has a welcoming charm that makes you want to stay longer.

The city is also an excellent base for exploring some of the best attractions in Maramureș. Within a short drive, you can visit Breb, Bârsana Monastery, The Merry Cemetery, Mogoșa Lake, Șuior, Creasta Cocoșului, and many other incredible places.

• Spend at least one full day exploring the city, or use it as your base for discovering Maramureș.

• Walk through the Old Town and don't miss Stephen's Tower, Liberty Square, and the beautiful historic buildings.

• If you're a coffee lover, stop by Pressco or Saint—both are fantastic cafés.

• For food, I highly recommend Bizo for a fresh, customizable meal or Saffiya if you're craving authentic Turkish cuisine.

• If you're visiting in the evening, enjoy a drink on one of the terraces in the Old Town—the atmosphere is especially lively during the summer.
