Bran Castle is one of Romania's most famous landmarks and a place I think everyone should visit at least once. Often associated with the legend of Dracula, the castle sits dramatically on a rocky hill and looks just as impressive in person as it does in photos.
Inside, you'll explore narrow staircases, historic rooms, secret passageways, and exhibitions that tell the story of the castle and its royal history. While many visitors come because of the Dracula legend, I found the architecture, history, and mountain setting to be just as fascinating.
The area around the castle is also worth exploring. You'll find traditional market stalls selling local products and souvenirs, as well as plenty of cafés and restaurants where you can relax after your visit. With the Bucegi Mountains in the background, it's a beautiful destination no matter the season.
✨ My Tips
Visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the largest crowds.
Buy your tickets online in advance, especially during weekends and holidays, to save time.
Plan around 2–3 hours to fully explore the castle and the surrounding area.
Don't skip the courtyard—it's one of the most photogenic spots in the entire castle.
If you're driving, you'll find several paid parking areas within a short walking distance of the entrance.
Combine your visit with Râșnov Fortress, Poiana Brașov, or Sinaia for an unforgettable day trip through Transylvania.
