Velouchi Snow Centre is Karpenisi's ski resort. It is built on the heights of Mt Velouchi, at an altitude of 1,850m, right below the 2,315m peak.

This ski resort offers a thrilling experience for winter sports enthusiasts with its variety of 11 slopes suitable for beginners and experienced skiers alike. There are even off-piste opportunities for the experienced skiers. One of them leads to a frozen lake, but I personally haven't been there since I don't usually go off-piste.

Visitors can rent skiing and snowbarding equipment, pay a daily pass and enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and other snow activities while taking in the breathtaking mountain views. You'll be able to spot various mountain peaks around, including those of the Agrafa mountains, Kaliakouda, Helidona, etc. The resort also features 2 cozy chalets, restaurants serving delicious local cuisine, and amenities for a comfortable stay.

It's a 17-minutes drive from the town of Karpenisi and the drive offers incredible views. I strongly suggest having the right kind of equipment for your car should you decide to go skiing, such as snow chains, preferably a 4x4 car, or winter tires, as there is often ice on the road.
