Travel time: 2 hours
This route usually has you change trains in Bern (sometimes a second change in Spiez). Bern is a busy station and often the transfer time is 6 mins or less.
So for a more stress-free journey, try to travel on of the direct trains, which run about every two hours. Check schedule on SBB.ch
Tickets
This route is free with Swiss Travel Pass, Saver Day Pass, Eurail, Interrail, and GA.
Discounted 50% with Swiss Half Fare Card.
Seat reservations are optional on these trains.
Family wagon
The direct train (and some of the other trains) usually has a "Family Wagon" designated by a teddy bear icon. This car has a little play area for kids and tolerates playful noise, unlike the regular train cars.
If you click on the train, you can see the configuration showing where you should stand on the platform to board the family wagon. You can also reserve seats in this carriage on SBB.ch
Scenic Route
For a more scenic route, you can travel via Luzern, using the Luzern-Interlaken Express for part of the journey. This route takes about 45 mins longer than traveling via Bern.
