Thunderbird Lodge is located inside Grand Canyon national park, and just a short walk from the South Rim. Staying inside the park means that you can wake up early, catch the sunrise on the rim, have breakfast at their cafe and walk to Bright Angel trailhead to start your hike.

It was an amazing experience staying right next to the rim! If you want to do this, you have to plan way in advance - there are various lodges inside the park, but they fill up months before!
