Located on the north bank of the River Tay with the village of Birnam across the water, Dunkeld is often referred to as the “Gateway to the Highlands” due to its strategic position at the point where the main roads and rail lines reach the northern parts of the country.

The town boasts an impressive 18th-century architecture, with many buildings restored by the National Trust for Scotland, and is surrounded by stunning countryside. It's a great place to spend a few days, or just to stop in on your drive further North and you'll be spoilt for choice for great restaurants, cafés and shops.
