Rattray Head is an incredible destination in the uplands of Aberdeenshire, Scotland, home to an impressive lighthouse.

Access to the beach is down a narrow road and you will need a car. Parking is limited so see the link here for an alternative walk.

Once here, you can explore the beach and its dunes which are up to 75 feet high, with sand stretching for 17 miles from St. Combs to Peterhead.

Some history:

The lighthouse was built by the brothers David Alan Stevenson and Charles Alexander Stevenson in 1895. It stands tall at 120 feet, its fascinating cylindrical-shaped tower and conical basement allow the beacon of light to extend out 24 nautical miles. Its solar-powered flashing signal still guides vessels safely around the coast of Scotland.
