Urquhart Castle is a ruined castle located beside Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. The castle has a long history, dating back to the 13th century, and it played a role in the Wars of Scottish Independence. Over the years, it was raided, strengthened, and eventually abandoned. In 1692, it was partially destroyed to prevent its use by Jacobite forces. Today, you can pay to explore the castle ruins, which offer some great views of Loch Ness.

If you are in the area it's worth visiting, although there are plenty of better castles in our opinion if it's out of your way!
