The Jacobite Steam Train is the perfect way to experience some of Scotland’s most beautiful scenery.

Leaving from Fort William, this 84 mile round trip takes you past iconic extremes such as the highest mountain in Britain: Ben Nevis, Loch Morar and, of course, the stunning 21-arched Glenfinnan viaduct, made famous in Harry Potter films, overlooking Loch Shiel.

On the journey, the train stops en route to Mallaig for visitors to enjoy lunch, a stroll and chance to enjoy the small harbour village.

This truly is a spectacular railway journey, but will take up a big part of the day (leaving around 10am and returning at 4pm) so do bear this in mind when thinking about taking the train vs. viewing it cross the viaduct.
