Gylen Castle can be found on what we'd call a bit of a hidden gem island called Kerrera near Oban, Scotland. You can reach the 10km long island on a short ferry crossing from Oban and from there spend the day enjoying a lovely quiet stroll in nature that takes in this impressive castle perched high on old sea stacks at the south end.

The crossing takes just five minutes from a pier with parking (busy in summer), about 3.5 kilometres south of Oban.

To walk the circuit you'll need about 4-5 hours.

If you are heading to see the castle, be sure to stop in at the tea garden as well.
