Monkstadt 1745 is a bit of a hidden gem on the Isle of Skye. The restored Clan house (owned once by the former Clan Macdonald chief) is steeped in history and a visit here to either stay or eat at the restaurant is one of the most unique things you can do on the island.

We've only eaten so far at the restaurant (which was amazing and very similar to The Witchery in Edinburgh as experiences go) but we've heard the rooms and cottages are lovely too.

With amazing views out to the Trotternish peninsula the lodge sits out in the wild, offering you a luxury and exclusive dining experience well worth the trip.

Make sure to ask for a whisky from the secret whisky bar too!
