Culloden Battlefield is a site of historical significance. The Battle of Culloden, fought in 1746 at Drummossie Moor near Inverness in Scotland’s Highlands, marked the climax and conclusion of the Jacobite Rising of 1745.

The battle pitted a British government force under the command Prince William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland, against an Jacobite army occupied by Charles Edward Stuart, the eldest son of James Stuart.

After a bloody rout, the Jacobites were ultimately defeated, and their uprising came to a close.

The site features an interactive visitor center providing an immersive experience into the 17th century battle, along with monuments and memorials commemorating those who died that fateful day. Outlander fans may also recognise a certain tombstone!
