Alþingishúsið, Iceland’s Parliament House, is located in central Reykjavík and has served as the seat of the Alþingi since its completion in 1881. Designed by Danish architect Ferdinand Meldahl, the classical 19th-century building is constructed from Icelandic dolerite and adorned with reliefs of the country’s four landvættir: a dragon, vulture, giant, and bull. Over the years, it has housed institutions like the National Library and the University of Iceland. Today, Alþingishúsið holds the Alþingi's debating chamber and senior parliamentary offices, symbolizing Iceland's rich legislative history.
