The Berca Mud Volcanoes is one of the most interesting mixed reservations (geological and botanical) in Romania. Due to landslides, deforestation, downpours, and mudflows, there is an eerie and lunar atmosphere in the reservation.
These geological formations are created when natural gas pushes up through the earth, mixing with water and soil to create bubbling mud that oozes out of the ground. Visitors often find themselves mesmerized by the sight and sound of the mud bubbling and gurgling, creating an otherworldly atmosphere.
People come from all over to explore the trails, and experience the quirky charm of these volcanic features. It’s a place where science meets beauty, and every visit feels like stepping into a natural spectacle.
