If you need trekking, camping, snow or water gear to rent for your adventures around Karakol, this is where I recommend you head. We looked around town at other popular rental shops, but this is where we ended up getting our camping and trekking gear and we were impressed (comparative to what is available in town).
If you didn't bring your own gear to Kyrgyzstan, then it's quite easy to rent gear in Karakol for trekking. You’ll be able to get everything, including tents, sleeping mats, sleeping bags, hiking poles, gas cookers, and even backpacks.
4Rent is a newer shop and their gear was lighter and newer than what was available in other rental shops. It’s still not “ultralight” as this isn't really a known concept in Kyrgyzstan; but it's not too bad. They also rent out SUP boards, mountain bikes, and cars, so it’s an all-adventure rental shop.
They also sell gas canisters too!
We rented a tent, sleeping mats, sleeping bags, and trekking poles for the Ala Kul Trek, and had a pretty good experience overall.
