🦏 Blackstone Picnic Site to Safari Park Rhinos – A Proper Hidden Gem
Fancy seeing some of the safari park animals for free?!

Follow our exact route on Komoot here

🚶‍♂️ The Walk
Start at Blackstone Picnic Site (free parking), which is just off the A456 between Stourport and Bewdley. There’s a big open grassy area that’s great for picnics, running around, or letting little legs stretch. The walk itself is flat and buggy-friendly, winding through peaceful heathland and open fields.

🚂 Keep Your Eyes Peeled for Trains
You’ll pass under the Severn Valley Railway bridge, and if the timing’s right, you might spot a steam train chugging past overhead. Always a crowd-pleaser (especially if you’ve got a train-mad kid... or grown-up).

🦏 Rhino Spotting!
As you head along the trail, you’ll reach a stretch that backs onto the safari park—and yep, you can almost always spot actual rhinos as it's right behind their watering hole.

🌳 Picnic + Tree Climbing = Happy Kids
There’s a brilliant picnic spot at the rhino viewing area, complete with a proper tree just begging to be climbed. Ideal place to stop for snacks and soak it all in.

  • Location: Blackstone Picnic Site, DY12 1PU - walk starts from across the road from there

  • Parking: Free

  • Facilities: Picnic benches at the car park (some accessible), but no toilets

  • Pushchair-Friendly: Mostly flat and easy-going

  • Dogs: Welcome, just keep them on a lead as there's sometimes cows grazing in the fields

If you're up for a little walk with a big payoff, this one’s got it all—nature, adventure, and rhinos!
