If you want one of the best reward-for-effort views in the park, Kea Point is such a good one. It’s an easy, well-maintained track that starts right from the White Horse Hill Campground car park and takes about an hour round trip. Our boys (6, 5, and 1) all loved it, which says a lot, it’s super family-friendly and just the right length to keep everyone happy. You walk through alpine scrub and then suddenly it opens up to this incredible viewpoint overlooking Mueller Glacier and the lake, with Aoraki / Mount Cook towering in the background. You can even hear parts of the glacier cracking, which feels wild and makes the whole experience that much cooler.
It’s also low effort enough that you can easily add it onto other hikes that day, which is exactly what we did, and it still feels like a highlight.
