🚡Trail Notes
The route begins with a moderate climb from Hilferepass through pastures and limestone fields
As you reach the ridge of Schrattenfluh, the terrain becomes rockier and more dramatic
Traverse along the spine of the range with views over Emmental, Pilatus, and the Bernese Alps
The highest points, like Hengst (2,091 m) or Schibegütsch, offer stunning summit panoramas
Return the same way or descend via various marked paths toward Chlus or Salwideli
🌳Tips
Not recommended in wet or foggy conditions — the karst rocks can be slippery and hard to navigate
Wear sturdy hiking boots and bring poles for balance on uneven terrain
Bring plenty of water and snacks — there are no services along the ridge
A map or GPS is helpful in fog or on less-trafficked sections of the trail
