What to expect:
Affenschlucht is one of the coolest hidden nature spots near Winterthur, with a small waterfall, natural pools and dramatic rock formations along the Töss river. Especially during hot summer days, it’s the perfect place to cool down and enjoy a little adventure close to the city.
The crystal-clear water, small waterfalls and jungle-like atmosphere make this place feel very special. You can swim beneath the waterfall, relax on the rocks or simply enjoy the peaceful nature around the river. The water is mostly shallow, which also makes it popular with families.
How to get here:
Drive towards Neftenbach / Wülflingen. There are a few small parking possibilities along the road by the forest, but spaces are limited.
Around 10 minutes drive from Winterthur and around 35 minutes from Zurich.
Better option: You can also reach it by public transportation from Winterthur (take the bus 674 to Haltenreben or bus 2 till Wülflingen).
Notes:
On warm summer weekends it can get quite busy, so going early in the morning is the best option.
There are no toilets, official seating areas or large picnic facilities, so bring everything you need with you and also leave no trash.
The rocks around the waterfall can be slippery, so be careful when walking or swimming.
