What to expect:
Ponte dei Salti is one of the most iconic places in Switzerland and a true highlight of the Verzasca Valley. This beautiful 17th-century double-arched stone bridge crosses the crystal-clear, emerald-colored Verzasca River and feels like something straight out of a postcard.
The river is famous for its incredibly clear water and natural rock pools, making it a popular place to swim, relax and enjoy the stunning scenery. On warm summer days, you can spend hours exploring the smooth granite rocks, jumping into the refreshing water or simply having a picnic by the river.
Despite its popularity, the scenery is absolutely breathtaking and well worth the visit.
How to get here:
Drive to Lavertezzo in the Verzasca Valley. There are several paid parking areas within a short walk of the bridge.
Around 3 hours from Zurich.
You can also reach Ponte dei Salti by bus from Locarno.
Notes:
The Verzasca River is beautiful but can have very strong currents, even when the water looks calm. Only swim if conditions are safe and always keep a close eye on children.
During summer weekends, the area gets very busy. Visiting early in the morning or later in the afternoon offers a much more peaceful experience.
There are several cafés, restaurants and gelato shops in the village, making it easy to spend half a day here.
