Crazywell Pool, is a large pond popular with swimmers located on Dartmoor. It was believed to be created by tin miners and is about 100 meters long! Despite local legends claiming it to be bottomless or haunted, the reality is that it's around 16 feet deep at one end. The pool has a mysterious charm, attracting stories of tides rising and falling with the sea and faces appearing on its surface at midnight.
You'll start along the banks of Burrator Reservoir and follow the Norsworthy Bridge to South Hessary Tor bridleway along the edge of the woods. It's a simple and easy out and back walk, and if you're looking for a spot with a mix of folklore and natural beautiful then Crazywell Pool is a must visit.
