Fronalpstock & Panorama Ridge Hike
Fronalpstock (1,922 m / 6,306 ft) is one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in Switzerland. From the summit you get a 360° panorama of more than 10 lakes and countless Alpine peaks – from Mount Rigi and Pilatus all the way to the Gotthard region. It’s a spot where time stands still, and yet it’s easily accessible by cable car from the charming car-free village of Stoos (which you reach via the steepest funicular in the world.
How to Get There
From Schlattli Valley Station – board the Stoosbahn funicular (world’s steepest with a 110% gradient!).
Return ticket: ~25 CHF (adult).
In just minutes you’ll arrive in Stoos.
From Stoos, you have two options:
Chairlift up to Fronalpstock (about 15 minutes).
Hike – a scenic 2-hour trail with 600 m elevation gain.
Klingenstock – Fronalpstock Ridge Hike
This panoramic ridge trail is considered one of Switzerland’s most beautiful hikes.
Distance: 4.5 km (~2–2.5 hrs).
Difficulty: moderate (narrow paths, slightly exposed but safe).
Reward: jaw-dropping views of Lake Lucerne and the Alps every step of the way.
Tip: Start with the chairlift up to Klingenstock, walk the ridge, and finish at Fronalpstock – then ride down or hike.

Stoosbahn funicular (return): 25–30 CHF.
Chairlift to Klingenstock or Fronalpstock: 20–25 CHF one way.
