Leticia offers visitors an incredible variety of wildlife. There are over 430 species of mammals spread across the area, with 16 species of monkey, 2 species of dolphin, and some lucky visitors may catch a glimpse of the elusive jaguar! The Amazon basin is also home to 40,000 different plant species, decked out in green for all to admire. Reptiles are also plentiful with 380 species and the many amphibian species available add a dash of vibrant color. Birds are also not wanting, with 1 300 species living in the Amazon in general and 1 000 found around Leticia specifically. Finally, the water is full of life, with 2 400 fish species identified in the area. Whether you prefer the cecropias trees, the hummingbirds, or the poison arrow frogs, the Amazon has something to quench your wildlife desires!
