If you're running low on supplies, make a quick stop at Canyon Village. a 30 minute drive from Towerfall campground, It has a handy store where you can stock up on essentials, plus fuel stations to fill up your car before you head off to Grand Prismatic Spring. We stopped here and had a look at the Visitor centre, since we had already stocked up we didn't need supplies, but it is an option if you are in need!
Grand Prismatic Spring is one of Yellowstone’s most jaw dropping natural wonders a swirling kaleidoscope of colour that looks almost unreal. Its brilliant rings of deep blue, fiery orange, and sunny yellow come from the heat loving bacteria that thrive in its steaming waters.
Depending on the weather, though, your view can change. On colder days, the spring produces extra steam, and the wind can blow it across the surface, making those vibrant colours a bit harder to see. Even then, watching the steam dance over the rainbow hues is a magical sight in itself!
I’d set aside about two hours to wander the full loop, and if you’re up for a bit of a climb, head up to the far ridge for a stunning overhead view of the spring it’s totally worth the effort!
