1 hour drive from Nelson, note that carparking is limited and the road here is very narrow and winding.

Further information: Split Apple Rock, also known as Tokangawhā, is a mysterious rock formation located off the coast of Kaiteriteri and Marahau in Abel Tasman National Park, New Zealand. This 120 million year old boulder looks as if it was sliced neatly in half by some mysterious force - legend has it that this was done by two feuding gods competing for possession of the rock. Alternatively, geologists believe water seeped into the rock before freezing during an ice age, splitting the boulder. Visitors to the rock can either walk out at low tide, or choose to kayak when the water's high. It's a truly unique beach attraction with a fascinating backstory, and a must-see destination in New Zealand!
