Photospot

The Zeigersattel is a stunning ridge viewpoint near the Nebelhorn and offers the best panoramic view of the Seealpsee far below. It’s also one of the top photo spots here, especially around sunrise or sunset, when the mountains glow in soft light.

The ridge itself is narrow and exposed on both sides, with steep drops — so caution is advised, especially in wet conditions. It can get quite slippery, so good footwear and a steady step are essential.

You can reach the Zeigersattel easily by taking the Nebelhorn cable car to the Höfatsblick station, then walking about 15 minutes. For a more demanding approach, you can hike up via the Oytal valley, starting at the base station. This route takes about 4 hours, 11 km, and 1,150 meters of elevation gain. The final section via the steep trail from the Oytalhaus is narrow and strenuous.

If you want to stay overnight to catch sunrise or sunset without rushing, consider the Edmund-Probst-Haus, which is just a few minutes away from the Zeigersattel (reservation recommended).

As always in alpine terrain: make sure you wear proper footwear, be aware of your limits, and only continue if you are surefooted and experienced.
