The Landsberger Hütte is a scenic mountain hut in the Tannheimer Tal, beautifully situated between two alpine lakes. The most popular access route starts at the Vilsalpsee. Please note: private cars are only allowed to drive to the lake before 8:00 am and after 5:00 pm. Between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, bus line 121 takes visitors from Tannheim to the lake. Alternatively, you can walk from the parking lot in Tannheim-Schmieden (approx. 45 minutes, 3 km).
From the lake, the hike up to the Landsberger Hütte takes around 2–3 hours, covering 5 km and 620 meters of elevation gain. The trail offers great views and is well maintained. The hut serves good regional food and also offers overnight accommodation — a reservation in advance is recommended, especially on weekends.
From the hut, you can reach several peaks within an hour or two: Schochenspitze (1 hour, 240 m up), Rote Spitze (1 hour, 260 m up), Steinkarspitze (1 hour, 220 m up), or Lachenspitze (1.5 hours, 360 m up).
As always when hiking in the mountains: wear proper footwear, bring enough water and layers, check the weather forecast, and make sure you are confident on alpine trails with uneven terrain.
