The Blaueishütte is a beautifully located alpine hut beneath the rugged north face of the Hochkalter, offering incredible mountain views and a wild, dramatic backdrop. It’s one of the most scenic hut locations in the Berchtesgaden Alps.
The hike starts at the Zauberwald / Hintersee parking lot near Ramsau. From there, it’s a steady uphill climb of about 2.5 hours, covering 4.5 km and 850 meters of elevation. The trail is well-marked, but the final section is quite steep with many steps, so a good level of fitness is helpful.
At the top, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking scenery and a warm alpine welcome. The hut serves excellent food and also offers overnight stays – reservations are essential, especially in summer.
Please remember: this is a high-alpine area. Proper footwear, suitable clothing, and checking the weather forecast are essential. Some sections of the trail are steep and exposed, so surefootedness and a good sense of balance are important.
