The Seealpsee is a beautiful alpine lake tucked beneath the cliffs of the Nebelhorn and one of the most scenic photo spots in the Oberstdorf area. The best panoramic view of the lake is from the Zeigersattel, which you can easily reach by taking the Nebelhorn cable car up to the Höfatsblick station and walking about 15 minutes from there.
If you prefer to hike, you can reach the lake by foot via the Oytal valley. From the cable car base station, it’s about 3–4 hours, 9 km, and 890 meters of elevation gain. The final stretch from the Oytalhaus up to the lake is very steep and narrow, making the route quite demanding.
Another great option is to stay overnight at the Edmund-Probst-Haus, just above the lake (reservation required), which also allows for sunset and sunrise photography.
As always when hiking in alpine terrain: make sure to wear proper footwear, be aware of your limits, and only attempt steeper or exposed sections if you have sufficient surefootedness and experience.
