The Schochenspitze is a stunning panoramic peak in the Tannheimer Valley, offering incredible views of the surrounding mountains and lakes. The hike starts at the Vilsalpsee. Important to know: direct car access to the lake is only allowed before 8:00 a.m. and after 5:00 p.m. Between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., a shuttle bus (line 121) runs from Tannheim to the lake. Alternatively, you can walk from the parking lot in Tannheim-Schmieden, which takes about 45 minutes (3 km).
The trail leads past the beautifully located Landsberger Hütte, a great spot for a meal or an overnight stay (reservations recommended). From there, it's another hour to the summit. In total, the hike takes about 3 to 3.5 hours, covering 6 km and 840 meters of elevation.
As always in the mountains: make sure to wear proper hiking boots, bring enough water, and dress appropriately for changing weather. This trail leads through alpine terrain and requires sure-footedness and a reasonable level of fitness, especially on the final section up to the summit.
