The Archenkanzel is one of the most spectacular viewpoints over Königssee – and unlike the crowded boat docks, this stunning panorama is only accessible on foot, making it a peaceful reward for those willing to hike. The best place to start your adventure is from the Hammerstiel parking lot. From there, it's a scenic hike up to Kührointalm and onward to the Archenkanzel – about 2,5 - 3 hours total, covering 7 kilometers and around 650 meters of elevation gain.

At the top, you're treated to a dramatic cliffside view directly above Königssee, with the Watzmann massif rising in the background – a breathtaking moment that feels worlds away from the busy lakeside below.

For the descent, a lovely circular route takes you past the Grünsteinhütte, making it a perfect loop hike. Both Kührointalm and Grünsteinhütte are known for their excellent traditional food and welcoming atmosphere – ideal places to take a well-earned break.
