Built in 1697, this small temple in Takasaki is dedicated to daruma dolls, the city's symbol. Over 80% of Japan’s daruma are made here!

These red papier-mâché figures are lucky charms—make a wish, color in the left eye, and when it comes true, fill in the right one.

At the temple, you'll find daruma of all sizes and colors, each representing different wishes: love, success, money, protection... Every color has its own meaning.

600 yen admission fee.
